Meet My Family

After writing a couple of posts about our home and interior decor, I figured it was time to introduce my family to you all. This will be the last of the introductions/welcome posts. So without further ado, here is my family!

We are a family of four: Jonathan (my husband and best friend), me, David (our oldest), and James (our youngest). Jonathan and I started our story in a speech class in high school, and we have been facing the world together since. We got married on my birthday six years ago, and it has been a blast! I love being married to this man! He makes life so much fun and he provides for us so I can stay at home with our boys. He is honestly the best man I know, and I would not know what I would do without him. Shortly after we got married, he joined the Coast Guard and went to boot camp. We have moved five times (two within one state), lived in four states, and driven across the country three times. After our third move, we knew we were going to be at that station long enough to start our family. So along came David.

Becoming first time parents was an experience I’ll never forget. I remembered being so overwhelmed yet fulfilled in those first few weeks of having a newborn. It was (and still is) a great adventure that we had embarked on. These days David loves to parrot EVERYTHING we say, and he has such a brain for engineering. He loves to problem solve and he always looks at everything so differently than Jonathan and I do. We learn so much from him and the way he views the world. Also, he has a massive love for books! This is probably one of my favorite traits of his, and I fully encourage it and buy him so many books. He gets so happy every time we get him a new book to read. And now, he is starting to read aloud with us and my heart just bursts for joy at his hunger for books.

When David turned a year old, we found out that I was pregnant with James. They are really close in age, but I actually love that. They have a wonderful relationship, even though they still get on each other’s nerves. I ended up having James on my birthday/anniversary! What a day that was! My due date was for a couple of days after that, but James wanted out and I was definitely ready to meet him. He has brought so much more joy in our lives. He is walking already and starting to talk. He is definitely adventurous and wants to do everything that David does. His personality is a little different than David’s, but they love each other so much and have such a great dynamic. I am glad that I had them closer together because I know they will be the best of friends.

We have no current plans for other children biologically. Both pregnancies were pretty rough on me. I can definitely go into more detail about them in a later post if you would like, just let me know. On the other hand, we would love to adopt some day. That has always been a dream of ours, but we would like to be settled down in place first.

That’s it - that’s our family! I hope you can feel like you can get to know my family more as I write more posts about our life. I would love to hear about your families, too! So leave a comment below and tell me a little bit about your families!

Thank you for reading,

Brittany
